Privacy Policy
Cois Digital ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and protects your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Cois Digital is a web design studio based in Ireland, and the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at [hello@cois.digital] · cois.digital.
What we collect
- Information you give us. When you complete our enquiry form we collect your name, business name (optional), email address, phone number (optional), and the details of your message.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider may log technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view, to keep the site secure and running.
- Cookies. See "Cookies" below and the choices in our cookie banner.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To respond to your enquiry and discuss a possible project — to take steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (GDPR Article 6(1)(b) and (f)).
- To provide our services if you become a client — to perform our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)).
- To keep the site secure and working — our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)).
- For analytics or marketing cookies — only with your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
Who we share it with
We only share data with service providers who help us run our business and act on our instructions as processors: our website hosting provider, Netlify; our email provider, Microsoft; and, if you consent, our analytics provider, Google Analytics. Our website also loads fonts and code libraries from Google Fonts and Cloudflare, which may receive your IP address as part of serving those files. We never sell your personal data.
Sending data outside the EEA
Some providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry data only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards [e.g. 12 months]. If you become a client, we keep records for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet our legal and tax obligations [e.g. 6 years].
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data; have it corrected or erased; restrict or object to processing; receive it in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email [hello@cois.digital] and we will respond within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission, the Irish supervisory authority — 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, and dataprotection.ie. Please check their website for current contact details.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including secure (HTTPS) connections and limiting who can access your information.
Cookies
Our site uses strictly necessary cookies so it can function. With your consent, we may also use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. No non-essential cookies are set until you agree. You can change your choices at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
